I read a quote once, I don’t remember where it was, but the quote stated, “kids are like an arrow inflight, you can aim them at the target, but once you let them go, they are subject to influences beyond your control.” The power of peer pressure should not be underestimated. After all, all adults were once kids and probably gave in to some sort of peer pressure. What’s different about peer pressure today is the fact that kids are overdosing at an alarming rate. Teen overdose doubled in 2020 and has continued to rise yearly. Because of Covid and now the war in Ukraine we have taken our eyes off the ball.
Teen overdose is a national disaster. What can we do to help our children make wise choices and not surrender to peer pressure? We can educate and inform our children so they can a strong foundation that gives them a clear vision of who they are and their potential. Our message will have a powerful impact that will help them resist the different scenarios they will encounter when we are not with them.
